1980 News: This year, the State meet was at 5 km for the first time. Some invitationals and dual meet courses were still at 3.0 miles, but the change had started...
Craig Higby and Randy Alspaugh qualified for and ran in the State meet this year as individuals. Higby placed third with a 15:35 time and earned all-state recognition. Alspaugh ran a 17:12 and finished in 75th place.
Higby also sets course records at GL vs Holt (15:27) and at East Lansing (16:56).
